A dash is a punctuation mark that is used to separate or emphasize information within a sentence. It is longer than a hyphen and can be used in place of commas, parentheses, or colons to create a pause or break in the sentence. Dashes can add emphasis, provide additional information, or set off a phrase for clarity or emphasis. **

When using apposition, both commas and dashes can be used to set off the appositive phrase. Commas are more commonly used and create a lighter separation between the appositive and the rest of the sentence. Dashes, on the other hand, create a stronger break and can be used for emphasis or to draw attention to the appositive. Ultimately, the choice between comma and dash depends on the writer's preference and the desired tone of the sentence. **

In mechanical engineering, the axial position of a component with a circlip refers to the location of the component along the axis of the shaft or bore on which the circlip is installed. The circlip is a type of fastener used to secure the component in place and prevent it from moving axially. The axial position of the component with the circlip is critical for ensuring proper functioning and alignment of the mechanical system. It is important to carefully measure and specify the axial position of the component when installing a circlip to ensure that it is securely held in place and properly positioned within the system. **
